What Are MIM Secondary Processes?

MIM secondary processes are the critical finishing and enhancement operations performed after the primary metal injection molding cycle. These processes transform raw sintered MIM components into precision engineered parts that meet exact specifications for surface quality, dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance, ready for demanding applications across automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial, and consumer sectors.

From raw MIM parts to finished precision components every step quality-controlled

Finishing

Precision grinding, polishing, and surface finishing achieving tight dimensional tolerances and superior Ra values for functional and aesthetic requirements.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

High-frequency ultrasonic cavitation removes all traces of contaminants, oils, and debris ensuring clean surfaces for subsequent coating or assembly operations.

Plating

Electroplating (nickel, chrome, zinc, gold) and PVD/CVD coatings that enhance corrosion resistance, wear life, conductivity, and decorative finish.

Heat Treatment

Annealing, hardening, tempering and case-hardening in controlled-atmosphere furnaces to optimize hardness, tensile strength, and fatigue resistance.

Passivation

Chemical passivation per ASTM A967 / AMS 2700 forming a protective oxide layer that maximises corrosion resistance for critical stainless steel MIM parts.

Assembly

Precision sub-assembly using automated and manual processes pressing, welding, bonding with quality-controlled inspection at every production stage.
